Description: The course uses eye-catching science experiments to teach fundamental leadership principles. It all starts with the demonstration of a basic science concept, like air pressure, surface tension, or chemical bonding, which will be explained scientifically, then linked to leadership concepts like goal setting, effective communication, networking, diversity, organization, evaluation, stress change, time management, decision making, etc.
Part of the program will be run in partnership with a school in Denmark. This involves some online meetings with the Danish students. Leadership skills will be used to discuss issues of global importance and students will learn to consider these issues from different perspectives (personal, local, national and global), and to engage critically with these. The students will use research, reasoning and questioning to form their own judgments.
The course includes some face-to-face meetings and day trips and will end up with a final project (weekend / holiday trip), which will be planned, prepared and run by students. It will be based on experiential learning activities and focused on applying the leadership principles learned in the course.
